Feeding Your Sourdough Starter

Many people ask how to feed their sourdough starter that they purchase from us.

We feed our starter 1/1/.
So :

  • 1 part Benanna Bakery Sourdough Starter
  • 1 part Water
  • 1 part Flour

You can use any flour  (as long it is not bleached). We use a mixture of rye/whole wheat/white. Just for flavor. Organic whole wheat flours are always preferred first 🙂


You can keep your starter in the fridge for a week without feeding.


If you bring it back to the kitchen counter you might want to feed it couple times to get the strength back. There should be a min of 8 hours in between feedings.
